Have you ever had an idea for a book and wondered why it hasn't been written yet? Or have you ever dreamed of being published one day, but feel overwhelmed by where to even begin? A clever company called Mascot Books is making everyday people into authors, many of whom choose to write about their favorite sport or team.
Mascot Books was founded in 2003 after Aimee and Naren Aryal were inspired to write a book about the Virginia Tech Hokies for their 2-year-old daughter on a car ride home from a football game. This led to a children's book series featuring collegiate and professional team mascots with straightforward story lines set against beautifully detailed illustrations that accurately capture beloved stadiums and campuses across the country.
Titles from left to right, starting at top left: Badges, Egg Salad, and Green Jackets: The Masters A to Z, A Taste of Virginia Tech, All in the Kitchen: Cooking for the Auburn Family, Let’s Go, Mavs!, UGA Teaches the Alphabet, Let’s Go, Chiefs!, When I Grow Up, I'll be A Bull, Undefeated, Wally The Green Monster And His World Tour
Although Mascot Books has extended its product offerings beyond books for sports fans, it's still one of their most popular subjects and their innovative self-publishing model makes it easy for anyone to create a future bestseller. Through their Authors Program, Mascot Books provides writers with professional publishing services, including production, marketing and sales. The author maintains 100% creative control and rights, and keeps 85 - 100% of sales proceeds. While you ponder your publishing career, get inspired with one of the many sports-themed titles from Mascot Books! love to see a book on how to keep your kids entertained while watching a game
ReplyDeleteI would write a book about southern tailgating
ReplyDeleteOhio State!!!! Go BUCKEYES!!
ReplyDeleteWould like to see a book like 'Football 101' for kids so it'd help provide an easy way to explain the rules (e.g., first downs, off sides, etc). Sometimes even I forgot certain things so I can't imagine trying to explain a penalty or something to a kid.
ReplyDeleteI need some new recipes!
