It's hard to believe another football season has come and gone, and now, the Super Bowl is only a few days away. If you're like me and you're not a Broncos or Panthers fan, you're probably wondering what to wear on Sunday. After all, wearing your trusty team jersey just doesn't feel that good because obviously, said team is NOT playing in the Super Bowl. *sad face*
So again, if you're like me, you get creative. :) In case you didn't know, this is a special Super Bowl because it marks the 50th anniversary of the big game. The NFL has been celebrating all season long with gold team apparel and gold on-field elements, so I drew some inspiration from that and created my own Super Bowl 50 t-shirt. It cost me less than $10 and 20 minutes to DIY this cute top and I'll show you how:
Supplies:
- Plain t-shirt of your choice
- Iron-on embroidered letters (available in-store at Michael's)
- Sticky Gems
- Aleene's Jewel-It Embellishing Glue
- Iron and ironing board
STEP 1:
Follow the instructions on the embroidered letters. Peel off the adhesive backing and position them as desired (I chose the left pocket area). Iron on as directed.
STEP 2:
Peel the gems off the clear sheets and apply a small amount of glue before placing them on the letters. You can use these gems sparingly or go to town like I did, it's up to you!
STEP 3:
Let the shirt set overnight before wearing it.
Tah-dah! You have a snazzy, Super Bowl 50 t-shirt that you can pair with a cardigan, leather jacket or fitted blazer and jeans. Check out how I'd wear it below. This would also be a great DIY for sports moms who want to personalize a shirt with their son or daughter's number, too!
What are you wearing on Super Bowl Sunday?
XO,
The Style Ref
